A Time to Unplug...
#ScreenFreeWeek

Screen-Free Week, April 29th - May 5th, is an annual event where children, families, schools and communities are encouraged to turn off screens and "turn on life".

Disconnect to Reconnect with the people around you!
Head over to Screenfree.org for information on Screen Free Week!

Parents always feel pressure to give their children the things they didn't have. But studies show  simple toys like blocks, jump rope and buckets allow kids to be more creative and use their imagination than the more expensive electronic devices.

Playing together shouldn't be something you feel pressure to do. Enjoy the time you spend with your child! It all passes too soon!

Check out www.Healthychildren.org for great examples on easy, enjoyable activities you can do with your child.

Bus Bullying

Bullying on the Bus : How Should You Handle It?

School buses are one of the top places where childhood bullying happens. With fewer adults around and a bus driver focused on the road-unable to monitor everything.

How to tell if your child is being bullied on the bus:

Recognizing something is going on with your child
Your child makes excuses to not ride the bus or to avoid school entirely
Watch for stress related symptoms such as stomachaches, headaches, nausea and dizziness

Kids may worry that if they report the bullying it will lead to more bullying.
